Fair things to ask.
Including the most important one: what is real here, and what is not.

Is Plumb real? Can I buy it?
No. Plumb One is a fictional product invented as a design and front-end showcase. Nothing can be purchased, prices are illustrative, the pre-order and contact forms only validate and confirm on your own device, and nothing you type is sent or stored.
What is simulated here?
The simulator uses a simplified damped-pendulum model with a ±5° stop and a 0.4 second settling time. It illustrates the idea; it is not a model of any real instrument. The drift chart and planner use plain geometry that is accurate on its own terms.
How accurate would it be?
The concept spec is 0.1° tilt resolution. That is about 1.7 mm of drift per metre, or 21 mm at 12 m. A bubble level read by eye at 1° is ten times that.
Could I see the beam in a bright room?
In the concept, the beam reads clearly out to about 12 m in a normally lit room. In direct sun you would use a target card or the phone readout.
Will the magnet scratch my wall?
The magnet back only holds to steel. For painted drywall the concept uses pin tabs that leave a hole smaller than a sewing needle, or a clamp on a tripod.
What happens if it gets knocked?
The lens ring turns from lime to coral and the beam blinks until the pendulum has settled again. It will not project a line it does not trust. Try the Knock button in the simulator.
How does the gallery planner measure hole spacing?
You set a centre line, frame sizes and a hook drop (distance from frame top to the hook). Nails are placed at each frame’s horizontal centre, at top minus drop. Spacing is centre to centre; gap is edge to edge. Everything is shown in centimetres and inches.
Does the phone tilt feature work on any phone?
It uses the browser’s DeviceOrientation sensor, which needs a phone or tablet and, on iPhone, your permission. Where it is unavailable, the page tells you and you can drag instead.
Is it a toy, or something to rely on?
It is a concept for a hanging and tiling tool, not a surveying instrument. A real product like this should not be used where a certified instrument is required.
What data does this site collect?
None. There are no analytics, no third-party requests and no cookies. Your theme and finish choice are kept in local storage on your device so the page remembers them.
Does it work with dark mode and reduced motion?
Yes. The theme follows your system by default and can be toggled in the header. If you prefer reduced motion, reveals are switched off and the simulator pendulum snaps instead of swinging.
Who made this?
It is a self-initiated concept by an independent designer-developer. It is not affiliated with any company, and has no clients or customers.
